College Funding - Is it a good seminar topic? Would you like to participate?

Hello,  I am thinking of presenting seminars regarding how to fund college education, the budgetary decisions involved, the life-long structure of the college loan debt systems, the family relationship strain that often results, and pratical tips for making decisions regarding finances and this significant decision.

Do you think this is a good topic?

Do you think it must be a "free" semianr or would people pay a fee?

Are you part of a business which would like to participate if this became a forum presentation?

All answers will be very welcomed.

Thanks, Sue

Sue,

The topic of college funding, etc. is very important to an enormous (and growing) percentage of our population. Locally, SIU-E just posted their second semester in a row of record breaking enrollment. With an increasing number of college students comes an incresing number of people paying for college (an obvious conclusion, but points directly to your questions).

Seminars - I suggest, and am practicing, both free and for fee seminars. Information such as this utilizes your professional expertise and that has a value. But everything requires a degree of awareness before action occurs, so informational sessions provide both worthwhile data for building background knowledge within the community, and an effective way for you to market your expertise and services.

My Career Coaching for Students program is a natural segue for the program you propose. I am interested in participating in complementary programs.

Bruce, I have a proposed topic using a "debt-free" goal text. I also printed some postcasrds to use for marketing. The idea of students graduating from college with $40,000 PLUS dollars in debt is just awful and I hope we can do something to help them.

Susan,

I think this is a great topic. I have branded an organization and produce a podcast called Leadership Decision College Radio (wwwLeadershipDecisionCollegeRadio.com) I would be interested in working with you in regards to this project.
Good Morning Dr Brand Man,
It would be a pleasure to talk with you about this idea. I have visited your web site and it is very intriguing.

College education will soon be a luxury for many students who have always considered it to be an expected part of their lives. For those who have recently graduated, the debt that they now carry has become a serious stressor because of the lack of jobs and the difficulty of finding employment which pays enough to cover the debt service.

As a result, many parents, ages 50 and over - who should be preparing for retirement, are now using their home equity to pay for student loans. In fact a recent "Money" article recommended mortgaging your home to pay for college for your children. Most parents realize - too late - that their home may only cover a fraction of the costs.. And, with declining real estate values, they may lose their home in the long term.

Hello Susan - We need to meet to discuss how we could work together in helping future college bound students qualify for and achieve financial assistance to attend the college of their dreams. My son and I have a unique program that we are just getting off the ground that is a perfect fit for what you want to do. It also fits each of the people who have responded to your idea as well. Perhaps we could form a team of experts to address this area of financial need. Give me a call at 636-534-2259 when you get a chance.
